A YOUNG GIRL FROM DETROIT
FALLS IN LOVE WITH MUSIC...
Pamela Dawson was born in Detroit, Michigan, the youngest and only girl among nine children born to Leo and Shirley Wilson. At the age of seven, Pamela's musical odyssey began under the guidance of her father, who introduced her to the enchanting world of the piano. Her dedication and love for music only grew as she pursued her education, ultimately graduating from Cass Technical High School as a Vocational Music Major. Building on her musical talents, Pamela went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Communications & Theater, specializing in music and business, from Eastern Michigan University. Under the mentorship of Dorothy Ashby, jazz harpist and god sister, she cultivated a deep passion for music, further honing her skills with renowned harpists with both the late Ruth Myers and Lucille Lawrence.

Pamela began her teaching career in 1995, as Head Choral Director at several high schools in the Detroit metropolitan area. In addition to teaching in Detroit, she served as a Minister of Music and founded the Adoration Music Ministry. With a desire to explore new horizons, Pamela made the move to Texas, where she currently resides. Pamela's talent and dedication to her community did not go unnoticed, as she was appointed Chair of the DeSoto Arts Commission for six years.

Pamela's illustrious teaching career now spans an impressive 30 years from Michigan to Texas, reflecting her dedication to music education. She is currently Adjunct Music Faculty at Dallas College and the University of Texas at Arlington, shaping the next generation of musicians. Beyond academia, she serves as a respected clinician and adjudicator, sharing her expertise at events across Texas and the World Strides Performing Arts Festival. Her artistic talents extend to the stage as Music Director and Vocal Coach for Jubilee Theater in Fort Worth.
Her contributions to the music community are further evidenced by her active membership in prestigious organizations such as the American Choral Directors Association, the Texas Music Educators Association and the American Harp Society. In 2022, she was inducted into the DeSoto ISD Hall of Honor. In 2021, she was recognized for her exceptional contributions as a Grammy Music Educator Top Ten Finalist. In 2023, Pamela was honored as the Grammy Music Educator of the Year, a prestigious accolade that recognizes her exceptional talent, unwavering commitment, and transformative impact on the field of music education. This recognition has catapulted her into the spotlight as a sought-after speaker, championing the cause of music advocacy, the interpretation of text, and the healing power of music. Her achievements also include lifetime membership in the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa and the Recording Academy as well as actively serving on the Recording Academy Texas Chapter Education Committee. Pamela Dawson stands as a beacon of inspiration, a passionate educator, and a true ambassador for the transformative power of music.

Driven by a desire to empower through music, Pamela founded "Notes of Transformation," a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming lives through musical experiences. This reflects her deep commitment to fostering personal growth and community connection.
While Pamela's professional accomplishments are undoubtedly impressive, her greatest joy lies in her family. She treasures the bond she shares with her two daughters, Elizabeth and Mariah, as well as her granddaughter Rhylee, who bring immense love and happiness to her life.
